Cancer Therapy in Clinical Practice Session 3c - Common Side Effects of Chemotherapy and the Management of these Side Effects: Haematological (6406)
Myelosuppression is recognised as one of the major toxicities of cancer chemotherapy, with a significant degree of morbidity and an increased risk of mortality associated with chemotherapy induced neutropenia. Risks for the development of neutropenia will be outlined and options for both the prophylaxis and treatment of febrile neutropenia will be discussed. Other aspects of chemotherapy related myelosuppression i.e. thrombocytopenia will be briefly discussed too.
