Understanding a cancer treatment protocol and monitoring patients on therapy.

This session will discuss the role of the pharmacist in ensuring that cancer therapy is prescribed and delivered in a way which optimises patient outcome and safety. Participants will gain an understanding of cancer therapy protocols and related supportive therapy. Interactive discussion will be included illustrating the dosing of therapy, taking into account all patient parameters. Strategies for examining drug interactions and maximising patient safety in this high risk environment will also be outlined.  Example cases will be distributed to participants in advance to stimulate discussion and focus the participant on their experiences and practice.
